Fishing Guide - Corny Point
With over 20 years of fishing the waters around Corny Point, Charlie has just about seen it all from glassy mornings reeling in whiting to battling tuna. As the owner of the caravan park and a longtime local, Charlie knows every tide, gutter, and reef like the back of his hand.
Charlie's always happy to point guests in the right direction, share tips on bait and rigs, or spin a yarn about the one that got away. Thanks to his decades of local knowledge, you'll find some of the best fishing spots on the peninsula listed right here. Tested, proven, and still producing!
Charlies Hot Spots!
Dairy
500m from caravan park. Can produce good numbers of mullet during cooler months on a full tide. Berley up and wait.
Dandy
600m along the dirt road to the lighthouse is the most consistent spot for mullet when they are about. The odd whiting and flathead can be caught. Requires a fairly full tide but worth a look at low tide to familiarise your self with the snag situation . Dead low tide can also work, head out on the reed if fully exposed, wear shoes.
Dandy to Shag Rock
Good area for wading the shallows with a rod and lure. Flathead are the main target and get to a respectable size. Productive spot for the fly fishers. Closer to shag rock and at the western end of the bay once again mullet can be prolific on a fullish tide.
Lighthouse Bay
You never know what is on the menu. Squid, tommies, snook, garfish, salmon are all a possibility when throwing a line off the rocks here. Not a good option for those with young kids. Watch the sea constantly and take extra care, slippery rocks.

Lighthouse
Float fishing for sweep in the white water, not generally very productive consider the risk. Snapper have also been caught in south gutte
North Berry
Boardwalk down to the beach makes for an easy access to some good beach fishing. Salmon are the main target. Beach formation varies from year to year so have a look from the car park for deep/dark water.
Point Annie
Bit of a walk down the cliff but half way along the surf beach there is a rocky outcrop that always has a nice gutter next to it. Great little spot for salmon and the elusive mulloway.
Whiting Bay
As the name suggests this a spot where you can pick up a few from the rocks, but not only whiting like it here, Garfish and tommies can be prolific with a bit of berley and a floating rig works a treat.
Gleesons
Go beach fishing in the surf for mulloway or salmon, mulloway seem to be more prominent at dusk or dawn with no moon. Squid can be caught of the ledge as long as the wind is behind you.
